At North Wales Watch Repairs we have decided to expand out into jewellery repairs, with an investment in a laser welder, we are able to offer a variety of jewellery repairs, including but not limited to:
A laser welder uses a powerful beam of laser light to join metal together. The process involves melting and fusing the edges of the metal to be joined together using the high-energy laser beam. Laser welders are used in a wide range of industries and have become a great addition to any jewellery and watch repair workshop.
Laser welders produce a small weld spot, there is no need to remove stones near to the weld area. Many jobs can also be completed without a further polishing stage being needed, saving the user time and money. Repair work carried out by lasers are also nearly invisible, making for a much better repair, especially for antique or vintage Jewellery pieces.
This machine allows us to repair all types of metals from 9,14,18,22 carat gold, platinum, palladium, and silver as well as stainless steel for watch repairs.
The main advantage of laser welding is that gemstones don’t need to be removed when sizing or repairing jewellery. Because the jewellery is not being heated up under a flame, the stones will not be heated, meaning they can remain in the settings.
During laser weld repairs, metal of the same alloy is used rather than traditional solder so you will not see where the ring was sized and this also means that the welds are also much stronger than traditional solder repairs.
We always offer free of charge, no obligation assessments of the condition of your jewellery or watches so please get in touch.
